Shades of White Stone

Made with 8mm smooth sodalite rounds on clear, elasticized cording. The cording is a substantial 0.9mm thickness and is triple knotted with the knot then glued and pulled inside a bodhi root bead for extra security.

Please note that this style is offered in two sizes: 8mm round beads and a larger 10mm round bead. You will see the side by side comparison in photographs #2 and #3 above. Photos are for comparison only; this listing is for a single 8mm round bead bracelet.

Bracelet: 8mm Sodalite Rounds

  • Sodalite has a hardness of 5.5 - 6 on the Mohs Hardness scale, making it slightly softer than many other gemstones used in jewellery. It is therefore slightly more vulnerable to impact abrasions and scratching. When not in use, it is recommended that you store your sodalite pieces in the soft cotton bags provided.

Physically clean your sodalite stones with a soft cloth. You can wipe them with a damp cloth if you are worried about surface cleanliness, but soaps are not recommended as they may create a film on the stone. To clear or recharge your sodalite, place in reflected sunlight or use a cleansing stone such as selenite. Place your sodalite piece on the cleansing stone overnight.

  • When magma that is rich in sodium cools to form igneous rock, beautifully blue sodalite may result (it actually gets it's name from its sodium content). Sodalite is naturally found in shades of rich blue to violet and often contains white veining. While it is sometimes confused for lapis lazuli, the easiest way to confirm it is in fact sodalite is the absence of pyrite; the telltale gold shimmer or veining that occurs in lapis.

As a blue stone, sodalite is associated with Vishuddha, the throat chakra and is useful in meditation as it may encourage a deeper knowledge of the self.

A stabilizing stone, sodalite promotes a sense of calm and helps release fears and tensions. It is considered a good stone for those who live with anxiety and/or panic attacks as it may help move the mind from a reactive, emotional state to a more rational, integrative state.
